Recipe type: Dinner
Cuisine: American
Serves: 6
Ingredients
  • 1 pound top round steak, cooked and cut into cubes or shredded (my family’s preference)
  • 1 cup chopped, cooked carrots
  • 2 cups diced, cooked potatoes
  • ¼ cup chopped onion (I threw in a handful of frozen onions from last summer’s harvest, but I’m guessing it was about ¼ cup.)
  • ½ cup frozen peas (more if you really like peas, less if you don’t)
  • 1 jar (18 ounces) home-style brown gravy
  • ½ tsp. thyme
  • ½ tsp. black pepper
  • 1 can refrigerated biscuits
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Spray a 2-quart casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  3. Combine steak, cooked vegetables, onions and peas in a large bowl. Stir in gravy, thyme and pepper.
  4. Pour beef mixture into prepared dish and bake, uncovered, 40 minutes.
  5. Increase oven temperature to 400 degrees. This is important, or your biscuits will be doughy on the bottom!
  6. Top with biscuits and bake an additional 8 – 10 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown.
